When? 

From early August.

How?

At the top left of Teams there will be a “Try the new Teams” toggle to turn on. Then follow the onscreen prompts to start installing.

Can I opt out?

Yes, by either not switching the toggle on, or by switching it back if you don’t like it. Though from September Microsoft will begin to roll it out with updates as an integrated component of new and existing installations of Microsft 365 for Windows, and in the long term for Mac’s, so there will be no opt-out, of course! The product is, like all their Apps, being continually developed.
